Painting Rainbows
I painted you a rainbow.
Colorwaters in the sky.
A touch of magic glitter,
With a pastel butterfly.
I stroked away the nightmares,
That held your fears so tight.
And with my brush I touched the sun,
To share with you the light.
I shared with you a story.
The kind that made us cry.
And wiped your tears with gentle words.
A tender lullaby.
We ran in fields of buttercups,
And chased a flying kite.
We watched it glide above the clouds,
'til almost out of sight.
We ran to catch some fireflies.
Your face was set aglow.
Knowing that they wouldn't live,
We gently let them go.
I touched your face with my warm hands.
I looked into your eyes.
And I realized my little girl,
Was growing up inside.
I grabbed my paints to capture time,
For it was passing by.
But you had already painted me,
A rainbow in the sky.
...friends forever, Tina.
