In The Once Upon Ago
Did you know you purr when I slide
My hand through the hair above your ear?
Not so one would hear it,
But I feel it in my touch.
Did you know that your eyes glisten
When I look at you?
I declare I am baffled, but they do.
It is wondrous to feel the love
That you give so freely to me.
It is a freeing of my shackles
So I may rise above the trees,
To see the last gasp of crimson
In this dying winter sky.
It is the prickle, the new life
Weaving the chambers of my sleeping heart,
And the joy I thought I had lost
In the once upon ago.
